Well, it’s Super Bowl Sunday and wouldn’t you know it, my team is at home like me watching commercials. So while the TV is on murmur, I’ll just play some music.
From their Last.fm wiki page, the band, Fires of Rome, are said to be “a scorching concoction of David Bowie, T-Rex and Prince, these three talented gothamist gentlemen give classic rock and roll a much needed comeback with their own fresh twist…”. I’ll say that that the band is quite catchy from I heard there on the page and I picked their length, You Kingdom You, at eMusic. The song, “Set in Stone” has been playing in my head for a week now.
You know, Richard Andrew, also known as singer/rapper, Outasight, has the cut “Radio, Radio” streaming on his homepage (where you can also click on the picture of his latest project, Radio New York, and download it free!). I like his voice. In fact, every time I hear him sing, he reminds me of Shawn Pander in his Houston former band, Soular Slide days.
The Platinum Pied Pipers, or PPP as they are now donned, have just released their newest project, Abundance, and for me it requires several listens which, for the most part, have paid off. I’m been enjoying the CD out its original track order, so the song 8, “Pigeon Hole” has become my first favorite from the disc.
You know, I love some Georgia Anne Muldrow so after scanning some MySpace pages, I found out that an emcee that was featured on Muldrow’s Pattie Blingh project had released her own work with Muldrow’s co-production. Her name is Eagle Nebula and as soon as I hear the sounds of “Daily Debut”, I know I was in the right place.
N’Dambi, this fellow Dallasite LOVES your music! From the opening funk of “Young Lady”, the Weird Kinda Wonderful EP has been receiving several plays throughout.
I also can’t wait here more of the new sounds from the Swedish outfit, Little Dragon. The track, “Fortune”, is a delicious teaser, though.
Clay Pendergrass is a Dallas music making machine and the track, “REM Sleep”, is some drifting electric guitar dub/jazz from his Morning Elephant project.
Rounding things out is another personally-anticipated release of new music from Dave Bianchi. His 2007 EP, The Onion, was the year’s top for me, so now a full-length release called Baby Disco will hit the e-stores in March. Here’s a taste with the track, “Currency Exchange”.
