Supporting students in their quest for educational access and empowerment is another way to be active and visible our community. Taking that a step further are openly gay organizations of color that are awarding openly gay and active students for their service and helping them achieve their educational goals. The Hazel Hatcher Scholarship is awarded by Legacy of Success Foundation and from 2006 until this year was the only scholarship award aimed towards LGBT students of color by an LGBT organization in Dallas.
This year will mark the inaugural presentation of the Men of Essence Educational Grant Scholarship Award, also benefiting young members of the LGBT community who are either college-bound or in college pursuing a full time, post secondary course of study. Here’s how you can get involved with supporting these worthy causes.
