Interview with Sean Nowell – Monday jazz session edition

For this week’s Monday jazz session podcast, I have an interview with musician, Sean Nowell. Sean is originally from Alabama, and currently lives in New York. His latest CD, The Seeker, is on Posi-Tone Records. I’m talking with Sean about some tracks on his new CD, as well as his journey from Alabama to New York to around the world playing music. Sean also recounts a story of working with Stanley Clarke and George Duke for the film, “Soul Men”, starring Samuel Jackson and the late Bernie Mac.

Leave a comment on our interview and three lucky people could win a copy of Sean’s latest disc, The Seeker. Make sure your email is correct so that I can contact you to get your mailing address. Thanks to Posi-Tone Records for making this offer available. This offer is good until July 25, 2009.

Sorry to have missed the deadline for the one-of-three ‘The Seeker’, but I discovered only recently Sean’s music. Does he cover “Giant Steps”? Michael Brecker’s version on “Twin Tenors” in collaboration with Bob Mintzer is unsurpassed.
