This past week I’ve been at popolio.com listing a fun countdown of hit interracial duets of the 1980’s. This countdown was mainly about solo artists who collaborated with other solo artists, however three videos are actually groups with a really good hit in the U.S. What I love about this countdown I chose is that with exception of one of the videos, none of the other songs call attention to the fact of them being an interracial duet. It was about the music as it should be. However this being MTV in the 1980s, the pairings themselves were also newsworthy.
My number one of the countdown will be revealed tomorrow, November 30, but for now you can relive my choices for 2 through 10 by clicking the links and leaving a comment!
My choice for number 2 was a hit single for both McCartney and Jackson.
My choice for number 3 brings Aretha Franklin to the countdown for the second time.
My choice for number 4 leaves Herb Alpert trumpet work as somewhat of an afterthought in this dance cut.
My choice for number 5 was brought to us by a duo that later went to produce a hit for Christina Aquilera.
My choice for number 6 brings George Michael into the mix.
My choice for number 7 is sappy, no lie.
My choice for number 8 had some many percussive remixes that it was ridiculous.
My choice for number 9 brings me good memories during the 1990s.
My choice for number 10 leaves me wondering why these guys are blaming it on the woman again.
