Photos from The Front Porch event in Dallas

Props to Samiya Bashir, Venus Opal Reese, Mahogany, Lady B Smoove, The Qure and of course, Tim’m West for bringing their talents to the cipher last night at Sterling Hotel. Enjoy the pics and enjoy a mixtape I made inspired by the event.

Old and new friends

Last night’s reception with allgo and the Black and Brown Summit helped me establish new friendships and energy for the vision of our community. Thanks to Southern Boi Entertainment, UV Vodka, and Obar Dallas for helping to make the reception a fun event. Thanks to DSP Co-Chair, Venton Jones and Earl Fowlkes and Michael Hodges for great summit. Stay tuned for pics.

ALLGO reception Thursday @ Obar - Dallas

Join allgo Thursday, October 2 at the Obar in downtown Dallas. Partnering with Southern Boi Entertainment and HRC Diversity, allgo will be starting its reception at 7pm and UV Vodka has provided special discounted cocktails throughout the night. As my fellow Dallas Minty friends have noted as well, the night will be full of activity at Obar. We’re just kicking it off!

Based in Austin, Texas, allgo exists to celebrate and encourage social justice and advocacy for the arts in a specifically queer sense among queer people of color and has been doing so for 23 years. Here’s the take from their website, http://www.allgo.org:

allgo works to create and sustain a statewide network of queer people of color activists, groups, organizations and allies, which through nourishment of relationships, grassroots organizing and artistic expression can radically transform systems and policies toward a collective liberation.

So plan to stop by Obar Thursday night around 7pm, enjoy a UV cocktail and say hello to my friends involved with allgo. And who knows, you just may want to get involved yourself!

Okay, “The Brad” over at Pegasus News enjoyed some great fried food that’s totally unhealthy, yet looks intriguing enough that you want to try. Look at what “The Brad” ate.

Dallas Southern Pride gets going this weekend as well. So much going on. Come hear a snippet of my interview with Houston’s own, The Qure, who’ll be performing Friday night along with Tim’m West, as he brings his “Front Porch” concept to Dallas. Listen to the full interview with the Qure at Mandrake FM.
